Global interaction is already a reality in many jobs within production, design, service and development. We believe that similar changes within the university system make sense, partly to prepare students for jobs where they need to work closely with colleagues around the globe, partly to give researchers access to expertise outside their established international research networks.
We believe that globalisation is going to change both what universities do and how they do it. In the field of Information Technology, universities will be expected to produce the knowledge and competences required to enable globalisation through appropriate use of Information Technology. Students and faculty will be expected to work together with faculty and students at other universities on a daily basis. Faculty and students will be expected to work with people in companies spread around the globe.
Global IT University aims at giving students and faculty the global and digital competences that are expected in a globalised world. The IT University of Copenhagen and the global partners each in their own way contribute to giving student and faculty experience with global work processes. For example, the IT University of Copenhagen has started a bachelor programme in Software Development, which combines Computer Science, project management, and communication. At the MSc level, students make joint projects with students in China.
The IT University has a unique approach to IT which draws on Science, Arts and Business. In a few years, the MSc programme at the IT University has become the largest MSc programme in IT in Denmark.
Global IT University was initiated by the IT University of Copenhagen, but it is specifically designed to benefit students and faculty from all participating universities. |
